Speaker: Kei Turner, UOIT
Abstract: With childhood obesity rates continuing to rise worldwide, there is an aggressive push by researchers to find ways of affecting healthy changes in adolescents. Mobile devices have become commonplace with millennials and continue to be more and more widely adopted among children today. In this thesis a mobile application designed to involve youth in physical fitness, leveraging the engagement influence of social networks and digital games is developed and demonstrated. The application designed actively counts completions from selected exercises, which were chosen through professional guidance. The application developed is capable of positively affecting fitness-related attitudes among adolescents.
